History

Rayer Bazar High School is a historical Non-Govt. school is situated in the highly developed environment in the Dhaka City under the directorates of Education Board, Dhaka of the People Republic of Bangladesh. The aim of the school is to educate a highly developed and moral teaching for building an advanced society for today’s children as a dutiful and responsible citizen. This school is played a vital role for the greatest purpose and benefit of the nation for the increasing number of people of this local area.

 

We know, education assumed institutional framework during the reign of British Colonial jurisdiction by various evolution. In 1868, Rajmushury M. E. School was founded for flaming the light of education in the illiterate society unitedly the then local general people both Hindu and Muslim. This Rajmushury M. E. School was only the educational institution of this locality during eight decades. The gradual demand and the necessity of the school, the local educated persons were founded ‘Rayer Bazar High School’ in 1946 by the vigorous leading of Mr. Abdul Hasem Khan and by the support of prominent person of that time. The above mentioned developing activities of the school, somebody are remembered forever unanimously for helping him named, Late Noyeem Uddin Matbar, Late Moulovi Salek, Late Md. Khorshed Ali, Late Mekab Khan, Late Nihar Ranjan Pal, Shonkhohory Pal and Late Abdul Gofur etc. Late on, by collective effort on April, 1948 the Rajmushury M. E. School was combined with Rayer Bazar High School for extensive welfare of education. Besides, Late Alhaj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan who was one of the greatest founder of that school also established ‘Jafrabad Govt. Primary School, Jafrabad Ideal/Adorsho Govt. Primary School and Rajmushury Govt. Primary Girls’ School’. He was a renowned chairman of this area during 30 (thirty) years. He was a legend builder of development of this area. He developed all kind of streets alongside the establishment of educational institutions. Moreover, he established many religious institutions, Masque, Madrasa and so on. For example – He donated the place of Al-Arafa Mosque, Abdul Hasem Khan Hafejia Madrasa, Jafrabad Jam-E Mosque and Rayer Bazar City Market etc.

 

At present, it has a dedicated elected managing committee for the development of this school. The honourable chairman of the present managing committee, Mr. Alhajj Md. Abul Kasem Khan who is the only deserving son of the greatest founder of the school. Late Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan is giving the guidance. Both the managing committee and the teachers are working together relentlessly to ensure the better environment and quality of education of the school. Every year in this school observes 21st February, ‘Martyr Day and International Mother Language Day’, 17th March ‘Birthday of the father of the nation Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman’, 26th March ‘Independence and National Day’, Pahela Boishakh, 15th August ‘National Mourning Day’, 25th November ‘Death Anniversary’ of the founder of the school Late Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan, 14th December ‘Martyr Intellectual Day’, 16th December ‘Victory Day’ etc. these national programmes with profound dignity. A foundation has been formed giving a name ‘Late Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan memory foundation’ for encouraging the learners who are poor and more intelligent in education of this school imparting economic co-operation annually at a time scholarship. As a donor of this foundation anybody can get chance to donate who belongs to an auspicious heart.

 

In addition to, a very modern laboratory, a library and a self-contained/self-sufficient computer lab by name of “Late Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan Laboratory” have settled by personal at a time economic help of Mr. Alhajj Md. Abul Kasem Khan who is the only deserving son of Late Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan and by the effort of the managing committee of the school. Because of the scarcity of classrooms of this school, the construction has completed of fourth floor of new academic building of multi-storied building of north block. In the meantime, an ultra-modern auditorium has been built by the name of “Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan Auditorium”. Furthermore, a nice prayer hall/masque has also been set up in the school campus. The specific place in the ground floor of south block of the school has settled the seat for guardian. Our school has glorious success especially in the field of national ‘art and culture’ and in Sports including gold medal. As a cooperating member, on behalf of the freedom fighters of the great liberation was in 1971, the great founder of this school Late Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan was arrested by Pak Army and they were confined him in the Dhaka Cantonment during 3 (there) months and 17 (seventeen) days. On detained, he was tortured by them in physically and mentally. By physical torture his rib bone of chest had been broken and his one leg almost been useless. For that reason, he is remembered forever as a cooperating member at the time of liberation war in 1971. It is also mentioned that, on 26th March, 1971 at morning both Mr. Tajuddin Ahmed and his intimate friend Barrister Amirul Islam came to the house of Late Alhajj Md. Abdul Hasem Khan and he managed to send them safely by reliable man to India. On this matter his intimate friend Mr. Nasirullah helped him. On the other side, the teacher of the school Md. Maksudur Rahman (Tila Sir), the student Md. Ruhul Amin, Md. Haris and the former student Md. Safiqul Islam are also remembered forever by the great liberation war. Finally, I wish to get heartiest cooperation from the respectable guardians and the people of the area for the real development of the school.
